Section 2: What AI Is in Plain English
Artificial intelligence is software that can perform tasks that usually require human-like intelligence: understanding language, recognizing patterns, making predictions, organizing information, and creating text, images, code, or ideas.
Think of AI as a very capable assistant trained on patterns. It does not truly understand your life the way a person does, and it can be wrong. But when you guide it clearly, it can help you draft, summarize, brainstorm, plan, research, automate, and learn faster.
Most beginners encounter three kinds of AI:
- Generative AI creates text, images, code, audio, or ideas.
- Predictive AI looks at patterns and estimates what might happen next.
- Automation AI connects tools and handles repeatable tasks.
The key is not to memorize every technical detail. The key is to learn how to ask clearly, verify carefully, and use AI for real problems.
